September is National Hispanic Heritage Month, and House of Neighborly Service is once again celebrating the vibrant culture and resilient spirit of our community.
We are thrilled to announce the 3rd Annual La Casita del Barrio Walk/Run, taking place on Saturday, September 27th, at 8:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake University.
For over 108 years, House of Neighborly Service has stood alongside Westside families, providing programs that encourage, educate, and empower. From early childhood development to senior wellness and food security, our mission is to meet our neighbors where they are—with dignity, compassion, and community-driven solutions.
This event is more than a race—it’s a movement to bring awareness to the most pressing challenges facing our neighborhood:
- 1 in 3 seniors in our community experience food insecurity.
- 1 in 5 children lack access to quality early childhood education programs.
- 78207 remains one of Bexar County’s highest poverty area codes.
