Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT)

Play-based Therapeutic Intervention

CCPT is a therapeutic intervention that utilizes play to help children communicate, process complicated feelings, and work through challenges without the pressure of finding the right words. Play therapy provides children the space and opportunity to build coping skills and foster emotional resilience to navigate life’s challenges and changes.

Services are delivered on a weekly basis for a total of 16-20 sessions. CCPT uses a preventative approach that can be beneficial to children who are navigating major life changes, behavioral concerns, emotional difficulties, and/or social conflicts.

Child-Parent Relationship Therapy (CPRT)

CPRT is a therapeutic intervention that helps parents and caregivers create a stronger, healthier bond with their child through special playtime. Parents learn simple play therapy techniques to better support their child’s emotional and behavioral needs more effectively.

CPRT is ideal for parents of children ages 3-10 who are struggling with emotions or behavior challenges, such as anxiety or aggression. It is especially beneficial for parents looking to strengthen their connection with their children.

Treatment is delivered in 8 to 10 weekly individual or group sessions. Their child does not need to participate in CCPT for a parent or caregiver to participate in CPRT. If needed, parents may borrow a play kit to facilitate individual play sessions at home.

Parent Workshops & Community Education

Parenting workshops are brief educational sessions that are designed to enhance the caregiver’s knowledge and skills to better support their children’s development and well-being. Workshops for community members and other stakeholders are also available.

Classroom Support

Graduate-level social work interns under the supervision of licensed mental health professionals will provide observation and assessment of children in the classroom setting and facilitate social-emotional learning (SEL) activities to build important skills. These SEL skills help us understand and manage our thoughts and feelings, build positive and healthy relationships, communicate effectively with others, feel and show empathy for those around us, and make good decisions and safe choices.

SEL skill-building and classroom-based support helps all members of the classroom community – children and educators. Social-emotional learning is a preventative approach to equip children with the internal resources to feel their best and learn their best. Educators are able to co-regulate with their students and enhance classroom management and improve overall school-readiness.
